Rendering Glint Films

Rendering Glint Films is a film production company founded in 2007 by Bhaveek Makan & Jashan Makan. From making short videos in their backyard, the Makan brothers decided to keep pursuing filmmaking whilst finishing off their university degrees. During the journey, they met up with other creative people who shared their passion for filmmaking.

Bhaveek Makan was born in Durban, South Africa in 1991 and moved to a small town in Newfoundland, Canada in 2001. In 2006, Bhaveek got involved with making short action movies with his friends to pass the time. In 2007, Bhaveek moved, with his brother Jashan, to Calgary, and they continued this passion whilst finishing school, and doing degrees that every South Asian would be proud of.  This was the year Rendering Glint Films was created. After 6 years of being in the Biological Sciences & Pre Optometry program, Bhaveek decided to switch his Major to Business. In these 6 years, Bhaveek continued making short films, web series, and even a feature film. Bhaveek is a primarily a director and conceptualizer, but does act, direct music, produce and write as well.  He is an extrovert who never shuts up. Bhaveek is currently a Business Marketing Student and is now pursuing filmmaking as a career because life is short and movies need to be made.

Bhavesh Chauhan grew up in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he began making stop-motion videos with a DV camcorder and later started making live-action short films in his teens once he moved to Calgary, Canada, in 2006. In high school, he took Drama classes and also met Bhaveek & Jashan Makan in Grade 11. Eventually he joined Rendering Glint Films in 2008 and his passion for filmmaking grew as he began to involve more of his friends in their projects. He spent the next 6 years working on a number of independent web productions ranging from shorts, music videos, web series, and feature films while in school. He attended the University of British Columbia Okanagan graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering in 2014, however after graduating he decided to pursue filmmaking full time.

While other kids played outside, a young Praneet Akilla watched countless films  and pretended he was characters from all of them. He was enamored with filmmaking and its ability to give people an escape and make them feel. After moving to Canada in 2000, he started making his own short films and skits. Throughout high school, he starred  in many school plays and musicals as Aladdin in Aladdin, George in Sunday in the Park with George, Moses in Prince of Egypt, and Sam in Mamma Mia! to name a few. Praneet recently completed his degree in Chemical Engineering from McGill University and still pursued the arts through college acapella groups and producing student films. As fate would have it, this led to him meeting RGF and starring in their feature film "Jewel Fools". Now a part of the RGF team, Praneet hopes to produce quality creative content to excite audiences everywhere.

Naanak Sodhi can solve a Rubik’s cube in 46.7 seconds, and is also the musical brains behind the Rendering Glint team. He legally downloaded music production software on his home computer in 2008, and he hasn’t left his room since. Since joining the RGF team in 2008, he has scored, written, directed, and filmed many RGF creations. Naanak also works as ‘Sodhivine’, and has been featured on media hubs worldwide for his music. He is deeply passionate about music and film, and is completely self-taught in music production, along with filmmaking. Receiving Canada’s highest value engineering scholarship, Naanak graduated as a Mechanical Engineer in 2015, and is now pursuing a career in music and engineering.
